SAO PAUL:
The Brazilian football team denied on Friday that they had reached an agreement with the coach of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti responsible for five World Cup wins.
“These statements are false,” the federation said in a brief statement. “The question (of a new coach) is being handled in a clear way and the chosen coach will be announced when the time comes.”
Ancelotti is currently with Real in Morocco at the Club World Cup, where his team will play against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal at the end of Saturday.
The 63-year-old Italian told a press conference on Friday that he hopes to see out his contract with Real.
“My position is very clear. I have a contract until 2024,” said Ancelotti, who returned for a second spell with Real at the start of last season.
Brazil are looking for a new coach after Tite resigned after the country’s quarter-final loss to Croatia on penalties at the 2022 World Cup.
The former coach of Spain Luis Enrique, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane and Jose Mourinho are often mentioned by the Brazilian media as Tite’s successor.
