Faheem dismissed Ashraf Malik for 12, when the ball slipped between his bat and the pad while trying to hit the drive. The veteran driver is facing a difficult situation, as he has scored only 46 points in his last five games.
Karachi captain Imad Wasim scored 92 runs off 54 balls, ensuring his team crossed the 200-run mark. However, a powerful knock by Azam Khan took United over the line.
Karachi, who have lost six games this season, desperately needed a win to keep their hopes alive.
Earlier in the season, Akram also lost his cool after his team lost the last ball to Multan Sultans.
The loss of close encounters clearly took its toll on Akram, who slammed the sofa in front of him in anger.
