The number of Covid-19 cases has increased again in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as 12 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, a health official told Alabi News today. friday

He said that the disease has caused thousands of deaths since it appeared in the province where about 6,376 people died of the disease, adding that Peshawar remained on the list. deaths and almost 50 percent deaths. He said, the number of Covid cases recorded so far has reached 225,231.

“Nine people have recovered from Covid-19 in KP in 24 hours and the number of recovered people has reached 218,781. The number of people who died due to coronavirus in Peshawar is 3,153,” he said.

He said that two new cases have been reported in Peshawar and the total number of cases has reached 85,481 in the district.

He said that a total of 109 Corona tests were conducted in KP in the last 24 hours, however, the number of active cases in the district is 166.

When the disease spread across the country, the federal government launched a vaccination drive with the help of foreign donors but rural Peshawar remained among the areas that witnessed strong anti-vaccination efforts. despite all the efforts of the government.

In February 2022, KP Chief Secretary Dr Shehzad Khan Bangash expressed displeasure over the delay in the vaccination of Covid-19 in the district and directed the deputy commissioner to increase the speed to achieve the vaccination set by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) and the provincial government.

A high-level meeting about the vaccination and spread of the Omicron variant was held under the chairmanship of the secretary general through video communication.

Health secretary, building secretary, transport secretary, primary and secondary school secretary, high school secretary, commissioners of all divisions, focal person NCOC, coordinator EOC, director general of health and deputy commissioners of all districts attended the meeting.

According to the secretary general, making vaccinations from house to house should be successful by using all available resources.

He added that there is no compromise on the success of the vaccine.

He also said that the elimination of this disease will be possible after the population is placed. At this time, the secretary of health said that steps are being taken to achieve the goals of vaccination and in this case the KP Health Department is in close contact with all the commissioners of the areas and deputy commissioners.

The Secretary of Health announced at the meeting that in 19 provinces, 70 percent of the first dose has been achieved, but in 17 provinces, 70 percent of the second dose of vaccinations is less than the intention is set. The chief secretary expressed his displeasure at the speed of the injections.
