Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul will continue as Pakistan’s batting coach for the New Zealand tour.
The former pacer was also Pakistan’s bowling coach in the recent T20I tour against Afghanistan.
According to information, Mickey Arthur is preparing to return as a consultant of the national team. It is also thought that Arthur will bring in Grant Bradburn as head coach, Andrew Puttick as a batting coach, and Morne Morkel as a bowling coach to the coaching staff.
However, Morkel is currently busy working as a bowling coach for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Due to Morkel’s unavailability, Gul will be employed on a temporary basis for the aforementioned series. Bradburn will further lead the coaching staff in the series.
An official announcement about the coaching staff will be made after the approval from the PCB management committee chairman, Najam Sethi.
Gul, who took 85 T20I wickets in 60 matches and earned a reputation as a very good batsman, also previously served as Afghanistan’s bowling coach in the T20 World Cup last year.
